In order to honor entrepreneurs in the private sector who have made contributions to the state-sponsored projects, local economic development and social affairs after they get rich, who pay taxes according to law, who take active part in the glory charity projects, Zhejiang United Front Work Department, CPC, and Zhejiang Federation of Industry & Commerce awarded Wang Jianyi and other nine outstanding entrepreneurs in Zhejiang province with the honorable title of Zhejiang Excellent Entrepreneur in Non-Public Ownership Economy.

On the morning of 30th June 2002, a meeting was held in Hangzhou in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Zhejiang Federation of Industry & Commerce. At this meeting, ten outstanding entrepreneurs in the private sector were awarded with the honorable title. Futong Group President Wang Jianyi was honored at the ceremony. Wang started Futong Group in 1987. After 15 years development in the spirit of reform and opening-up to the outside world, the Futong Group has grown into a leading manufacturer of optical communication industry in China. In 2002, the group listed as the 41st in the top 100 businesses in the national electronics industry and number one tax payer and number one in the Fuyang City's industry for consecutive years. At the end of 2001, Futong Group made a breakthrough in the technological bottleneck in the optical communication industry. Futong led China in producing optical fiber prefabricated rods on the basis of its full proprietary complete synthetic technology and took steps to mass produce the rods. Wang Jianyi is a warm-hearted generous donator to charitable glory projects, making contributions to the building of the protective forest belt in the northwestern China.
